You see, I’ve been sitting on this idea of starting a blog for about 4 years. On top of that, I haven’t even owned a computer for almost 10 years. (crazy, huh?) The idea of buying a computer, launching a site (when I literally know NOTHING about blogs or websites), and putting myself out there was terrifying. Yet, God always has a way of pushing us into the uncomfortable and making things possible when they seem out of reach.
When I got divorced in 2017, I met woman after woman who had been through very similar situations. It was surprised to learn that so many of us have experienced this same type of trauma. Quickly and unexpectedly thrown into single motherhood, I had to lean hard on the Grace of God and figure out how to do everything on my own, all while experiencing tremendous pain. This blog is not only an account of what I’ve learned, but also how I’ve triumphed during this process. Here, in this blog, you will find stories you can connect with, inspirational posts, great advice on how to master your life as a mother, and how to have some fun along the way.
Raising My Ruth
Coming up with a name for a blog is hard. I started research using variations of my own name…. And, after discovering about 35 other blogs with some version of that, I needed to think outside the box. What am I trying to say? Who am I trying to reach? YOU.
Mothers of daughters. Women of Christ. Those who are trying to live in the Word in this very confused world. Who else had a beautiful story built from pain and loneliness? Ruth. Who had experienced great pain and loss, but still was blessed beyond measure? Ruth. Ruth was an amazing woman in the Bible and her story is exactly what I am trying to convey. Ruth was a widow and a woman of poverty, yet she lived with great bravery, faith, and obedience to Christ.
Also, my great-grandmother was named Ruth, and my daughter and myself also carry the name. 🙂
I hope you will join me on my journey to reach other women. To show them that pain and loneliness are a mere stopping point on this path and not the end to anything. That there is hope in every situation that we encounter. If you’d like, follow me on social media or subscribe to have my posts sent straight to your inbox. I hope to bring joy, inspiration, strength, and a reminder of Whose you are through my story telling! You can find more about me here https://raisingmyruth.com/hello/
